The 7th Annual Falcon Lake Winter Fish-Off was a great success with 166 fish weighed in. A new record! We welcomed contestants from as far as away from Gilliam MB, Thompson MB, Martensville SK, Hearst ONT, Toronto ONT, and even Hay River NWT! Here's a brief recap, by the numbers:

• 166 Fish weighed in this year. A new record!
• 50th place was 1.98 won by Derrick Vaughn
• 1st place was a 20.02 pound pike caught by Mike Toews
• 2nd place was a 8.44 pound pike caught by Gord Steiss
• 3rd place was a 7.24 pound pike caught by Geo Guertin
• 10th placing was 5.14 pounds

Jason Klassen from Winnipeg weighed in a 7.81 pound pike (fish #111) with a half hour to go to take over 1st place. Then with only five minutes to go, a 7.86 pound pike (fish #124) was caught by Miles Mantie of Steinbach Manitoba, our 2009 Falcon Lake Winter Fish-Off champion and $10,000 CASH winner! A great time was had at the 6th Annual Falcon Lake Winter Fish-Off! Here's a brief recap:

• A total of 125 fish caught.
  3 Whitefish,
  3 Burbot,
  19 Perch, and
  100 Pike!
• 50th prize went to Judy Land from Whitedog Ontario with a .95 pound fish netting Judy $1000 CASH!
• Smallest fish weighed in was .11 of a pound.
• The early bird prize winners were
  Gennadiy Razoomniy (Winnipeg, MB) $1000 CASH,
  Brady Smitles (Winnipeg, MB) JVC Camcorder, and
  Brian Kiedyk (Landmark, MB) Sony 530W Stereo System.
