Official Rules
- All Manitoba sport fishing rules apply (barbless hooks).
- No live bait.
- Anglers must have a valid Manitoba fishing license or Treaty status ID card.
- 1 hole per entry (1 line per hole) - maximum 2 holes per angler.
- You may fish any unoccupied hole.
- Paid contestants who are fishing will be the only ones
allowed to enter the Derby site.
- To purchase 2nd hole ticket, the 1st ticket must be present at time of sale.
- Anglers must have 1st hole and 2nd hole (if purchased) tickets clearly visible upon entry, or you will not be permitted to enter the Derby site.
- All coolers, pails, portable shacks will be checked before
entering Derby site.
- Portable shacks are permitted however no shack shall be
erected until the beginning of the Derby (11:00 am).
- Only holes drilled in Derby grid and drilled by the Derby
committee are eligible to be fished. All holes drilled with StrikeMaster augers.
- Bring axe or chip bar to re-open holes as the holes are drilled through the ice the day before the Derby. Holes may freeze overnight.
- No motorized vehicles within 50 meters of Derby site area other then official's vehicles.
- Competitors must be a minimum of 18 years of age
unless they have a parent or guardian fishing with them.
- Anglers will be allowed to enter fishing area at 9:00 am
and may use depth locators to find depth. No line shall go
in the water until the beginning of the Derby (11:00 am).
- If you have to leave the fishing area for any reason, you
must exit and enter through the check-in line.
- Horn will sound to begin and end the Derby.
- All walleye in the slot (between 45 cm and 70 cm) must
be released immediately and are not to be entered in the
Derby.
- All fish must be weighed-in and released alive (no dead fish).
- Fish must be brought to the scale in container of water with your pail tag attached. Example:
cooler, pail of at least 16 litre size.
- Only one prize per entry may be awarded, two tickets - 2
prizes.
- Absolutely no passing of fish amongst contestants.
Incident must be reported immediately for organizer to
make his decision regarding disqualification.
- ID tag must be worn to weigh fish.
- In case of a tie, fish weighed first will win higher prize.
- If unsafe ice conditions cause Derby cancellation, all prizes will be awarded through a public random draw on March 24, 2012. Time and place will be posted on Derby website or by calling 1-866-676-FISH.
- No pre-fishing the Derby site for 30 hours before Derby start time.
- Failure to comply with the Derby rules subjects
contestants to disqualification.
- The Tournament Director has the right to delay or shorten
the tournament, subject to weather or safety conditions.
- Should inclement weather cause cancellation on March
17th, 2012, Derby will be held March 24th, 2012 at
the same time and location.
Official cancellation notices will be posted on Derby website or by calling 1-866-676-FISH.
- Contestants do not need to be present to collect prizes.
- Tickets are transferable and no refunds will be given.
- Decision of official is final!
